On Tuesday, the veteran wide receiver has agreed to a deal to join the Dallas Cowboys, Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reports. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cobb will sign a one-year contract worth $5 million.Cobb joins a Cowboys receiving corps that just saw Cole Beasley leave in free agency. Cobb should slide in as the top slot receiver in the offense, giving quarterback Dak Prescott a reliable target on short and intermediate throws. As for the Packers, Cobb’s departure opens up a considerable amount of targets in what projects as a pass-heavy offense. Rising second-year wideout Equanimeous St. Brown saw meaningful action as a slot receiver during the second half of 2018 and could continue to develop in that role. The team might also target a receiver during the upcoming draft to add competition for Cobb’s vacated spot.A second-round draft pick in 2011 , Cobb quickly became one of the most important members of the Packers offense and special teams. In his first regular-season game, he returned a kickoff for a touchdown and added another as a receiver. Cobb emerged as a featured weapon during his second season, falling just 46 yards short of the 1,000. Injuries cost Cobb much of his third season. Still, he returned to make the biggest play of the year, a game-winning , division-clinching touchdown in the final minute of Week 17.Cobb went on to post his first 1,000-yard season as a receiver in 2014, earning a Pro Bowl nod in the process. The Packers rewarded Cobb with a four-year, $40 million contract the following offseason.Cobb’s productivity waned following his breakout campaign. Injuries cost him 11 games over the past four years and, in the case of a significant shoulder injury in 2015, severely limited him in others. He never again recorded more than 79 receptions or 829 yards in a season , and his yearly touchdown output dipped significantly over that stretch. Those reasons help explain why the Packers let one of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ favorite pass catchers depart in free agency.Barring a future return to Green Bay, Cobb finishes his Packers career with 5,524 receiving yards and 41 touchdowns. He also produced another 352 yards on 59 carries as well as three scores as a return man.Packers Practice Squad Signings: Green Bay swaps running backs, adds WR Hatcher Over the weekend, the Green Bay Packers quietly made a roster transaction, promoting defensive lineman Tyler Lancaster to the active roster from the practice squad. Lancaster took the place of running back Darius Jackson , whom the Packers released, and his promotion opened up a spot on the practice squad. The Packers elected to fill that empty spot on Tuesday, but they also made a swap at another position on the squad. The first new name is wide receiver Keon Hatcher, who played his college football at the University of Arkansas. The 6-foot-1 Hatcher was invited to the NFL Combine in 2017 but injured his hamstring at the event and did not complete his drills.Hatcher spent five years at Arkansas and finished his career with 19 touchdowns and just shy of 1,900 receiving yards. He also added 21 rushes for 259 yards and a touchdown and pitched in a few kickoff returns early in his career. Hatcher spent the entire 2017 season on the Oakland Raiders’ practice squad. The other new face on the practice squad is running back Tra Carson. A dual-threat running back, Carson ran for 1 ,165 yards as a senior in 2015, adding 29 receptions for 183 yards and scoring a total of eight touchdowns. He projects as a physical runner, measuring in at 5-foot-11 and 227 pounds. His Pro Day numbers include a 40-yard dash time of 4.64 seconds and a vertical jump of 37 inches. Carson suited up for two games with the Cincinnati Bengals this year after spending all of last season on the active roster but failing to make the 46-man active gameday roster even once. He was released with an injury settlement on October 1st.In order to open up a second spot on the practice squad to make room for these two players, the Packers released running back Joel Bouagnon from the practice squad. Bouagnon was the Packers’ leading rusher in the preseason, but he did so with just a 2.8 yards-per-carry average.
