He spent time on the Tennessee Titans practice squad that season, before seeing time on the practice squad of the New York Giants in 2017.He was waived this past summer by the Giants and the Browns picked up McKinnon after the start of training camp. Once with the team, however, McKinnon made sure he was noticed , at one point getting into a scuffle with wide receiver Rashard Higgins. Ironically, McKinnon and Mitchell worked out together as the two defensive backs were friendly from their time together at training camp with the Cowboys in 2016, McKinnon told clevelandbrowns.com:As for Mitchell, his loss is a big blow for the defense as he was playing very well opposite rookie cornerback Denzel Ward. He may still return this season as teams are allowed to select two players to return from injured reserve. The Browns don’t have to make that call until Mitchell is able to return to practice, but he will have to miss a minimum of eight games, according to league rules.That means the earliest that Mitchell could return to the field would be the December 9 game against the Carolina Panthers. The Cleveland Browns defense has become a game-altering presence during the first three weeks of the NFL season. Now the defense will be getting some reinforcements as the Browns head to Oakland looking for just their second road win against the Raiders since 2006. Defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah and linebacker Christian Kirksey , who both missed the past two games with injuries, are back at practice and expected to play on Sunday.Even without two of its starters, the defense has forced a league-high 11 turnovers, are 11th in points per game allowed (19.7), tied for fourth in touchdown passes allowed (3), fourth in opposing quarterback rating (72.4) , and tied for 10th in average yards per carry allowed (3.7).Now Ogbah is ready to get in on the fun, according to clevelandbrowns.com:The Raiders may be a mess right now under head coach Jon Gruden, but the offense has played well enough to average a tick more than 400 yards a game so having Ogbah and Kirksey back on the field should be a good thing.
