He ranks sixth in the Pro Football Focus rookie of the year rankings. He won’t win rookie of the year, but he is all but certain to earn an all-rookie designation at tackle. He’s a monster in run blocking, and is showing considerable improvement in pass protection. McGlinchey struggled out of the gates , giving up at least two pressures in each of the first four weeks. Since then, he has given up one or fewer pressures in four of the past five weeks. He had his worst performance of the year in Week 7 when he gave up two sacks on five pressures to the Los Angeles Rams defensive front.The 49ers have seven more games, facing a mix of bad defenses and decent to good defenses. McGlinchey’s biggest remaining tests coming in Week 14 against the Denver Broncos and Week 16 against the Chicago Bears.
