We're in closed beta to get these at the present time. We've had a hugely positive reception for the idea. We've 260 million registered accounts within the matches' life, and as you can expect, a lot of players who used to play the sport have aged out of playing PC games. But a great deal of them tell us that if they can play the game on mobile, they would really like to return. They love the world and the encounter, but they've grown up. They have families and jobs and commutes. They can not put five hours into an MMORPG every evening.

We're fortunate because RuneScape is rather a flexible game. It is possible to play for five or 10 minutes and have a profitable experience. We believe that on mobile means our existing players can perform more since they can simply add it into their own life, or it may bring back lapsed players that resume their account from a decade ago and find out the game again and keep playing. It also opens the door to a completely different set of players who are mobile-first gamers and didn't play the PC originally. We're almost certainly going to be the first big MMORPG from the West to be on mobile, let alone be completely interoperable and have cross legged play between devices.But, there was something that RuneScape had that Warcraft didn't - and that was ease. Whilst some enjoyed the complex gaming experience that WoW offered - with its harm spreadsheets and optimum character builds - most did not want this, or understand nor care about this aspect of gaming. RuneScape was point-and-click, point-and-skill, point-and-kill, but it did so very well, and in an incredibly accessible method. In its early days, the gameplay experience for the training of nearly every ability or the combating of nearly every monster was little more than'click on the item and wait for x to occur', which made the core of the game available to anybody who might operate a mouse. Advancing in almost any one of those 19 abilities (upon 2004 release, currently 27) was often a easy task - but it was notoriously a very lengthy one.

The market of this game often meant these skills wouldn't go to waste, either, and difficult work - or difficult grinding - almost always paid off after the fruits of one's labor were marketed.
